## Bio

A late bloomer who turned early mediocrity into elite consistency, Eduardo Roque rose from a social jiu-jitsu project on Gigoia Island under coach Neovan Oliveira da Costa (“Perninha”) to become the #1 ranked IBJJF athlete as a blue belt in 2018. After an underwhelming first trip to the World Championships, Roque accepted an offer from Rafael Lima Corrêa (Gordinho) to train at Start Jiu-Jitsu in Florida, splitting his time between the US and Brazil to dominate the colored-belt ranks. He was promoted to black belt on December 21, 2021, by Perninha, cementing a career built on grinding through the circuit rather than raw talent.
