## Bio

Born in the Bronx in 1989, Edwin Ocasio found an outlet for a turbulent upbringing through high school wrestling in Pennsylvania, though a torn ACL at sixteen sidelined him for nearly six years. Returning to combat sports in 2013 via MMA, he gravitated toward jiu-jitsu at Ronin Athletics under Christian Montes and Carlo Chan. There he befriended Murilo Santana, became the first student of Unity Jiu-Jitsu when Santana opened his gym, and developed into a trusted training partner. Santana awarded Ocasio his brown belt in 2017 and black belt on August 3, 2019.
