## Bio

Helder Júnior (“Tropeço”) emerged from the Minas Gerais interior via a social project under coach Tales, then Leandro Carrilho, who awarded his blue belt and helped secure a scholarship at Paulo Rezende’s Casa Do Atleta in Poços de Caldas—a camp that produced Marcelo Garcia and Matheus Diniz. There he received purple and brown belts before a brief stint with Dream Art in São Paulo, followed by a move to Team Fratres. In June 2023, after winning the IBJJF World Championship as a brown belt in North America, he was promoted to black belt by Rider Zuchi and Fratres founder Daniel Affini.
