## Bio

Helder Medeiros, better known as “SpongeBob,” built his reputation less on individual competitive glory and more on his deep coaching roots, first establishing the first Checkmat affiliate in his home state of Paraíba before becoming a key figure in the UAE’s national development. A black belt under Demian Maia, Leonardo Vieira, and Ricardo Vieira, he transitioned from training in São Paulo and Rio—where he was part of Ricardo’s VB Project—to leading the UAE under-18 and under-21 national squads to JJIF world and Asian Games titles. His high-performance workgroup “A Liga” in the Emirates further cemented his influence, guiding top black belts like Jose Junior and Luanna Alzuguir.
