## Overview

**Name:** Igor Paiva

**Date of Birth:** July 04, 1990 (age 36)

## Bio

Igor Paiva emerged from the Mendes brothers’ academy in Rio, earning his black belt from Bruno Mendes in 2017 after a standout lower-belt run that saw him become a top student and assistant instructor at the gym. A late starter who only began jiu-jitsu at 17 after a childhood spent in competitive football and other sports, he quickly made up for lost time by racking up major international titles through the colored belts. His sharp, pressure-focused guard passing and relentless pace became his calling card on the circuit, cementing him as a product of the Art of Jiu-Jitsu lineage from the Grajaú area.
