## Bio

The first black belt ever awarded by Lloyd Irvin, Jared Weiner earned his promotion on September 6, 2003, alongside Leo Dalla, after a competitive tenure at TLI that put his name on the international map. A product of the Philadelphia area, he started at Maxercise under Steve Maxwell, who promoted him through blue, purple, and brown before the move to Team Lloyd Irvin. Weiner opened his own academy, BJJ United, in 2002 while still affiliated with TLI, eventually breaking away to form his own Tac Team BJJ in 2013. His competitive career was nearly derailed in July 2014 by back-to-back concussions within a week, leading to months of headaches, depression, and inability to train before recovery. He also represents the Purebred Association through his bond with Guam-based coach Stephen Roberto and serves as an ambassador for Mission 22, the veteran suicide prevention nonprofit.
