## Bio

A brown belt from Maranhão who arrived in the US with nothing but a gi and a teammate, Livio Ribeiro ("Galinho") won both the IBJJF Pan and World Championship in the same year before receiving his black belt in June 2018 from Osvaldo Moizinho with permission from his longtime coach Luiz Major. Starting jiu-jitsu at 15 through the Projeto Social QG da Luta academy under Helder Mourão and Major, he moved to Teresina at age 6 after his parents' divorce and tried karate, judo, and capoeira before settling on BJJ. His signature achievement as a brown belt double-champion cemented his rise through the Ares Jiu Jitsu team in Modesto, California.
