## Bio

A late starter who traded boxing gloves for the gi in his late twenties, Luiz Ribeiro cut his teeth at the legendary TT gym in São Paulo alongside future stars Eduardo Telles, André Galvao, and Rubens Charles before relocating to England with modest ambitions. An impromptu armbar demonstration in a South London weight room sparked the idea that became London Fight Factory, which he built from scratch in Brixton. Ribeiro eventually linked up with Ricardo Vieira’s Checkmat team, receiving his black belt in May 2010 from Marco Canha on Vieira’s behalf after weather grounded the latter’s travel plans. London Fight Factory has since cemented itself as a premier academy in the capital.
