## Bio

Born in São Paulo but raised across Brazil before settling in Recife at age 10, Luiz Tosta started judo at 5 and later returned to it at 15, but his friendship with Mario Reis in Porto Alegre gradually pulled him into jiu-jitsu. A blue belt when he moved to London in 2003, he trained at London Shootfighters for MMA while staying active on the mats with local coaches. Reis promoted him through every belt, awarding the black belt on the podium of the 2009 IBJJF World Championship. Tosta’s MMA career began in 2004, stalled for business ventures, then resumed with a five-year submission streak leading to Bellator.
