## Bio

A longtime fixture of the Florida grappling scene, Marcelo Cohen built his game on the technical, pressure-heavy foundation of the Carlson Gracie lineage under Marcelo Saporito. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1983, he started judo at nine before switching to jiu-jitsu in his mid-teens at the Carlson Gracie Academy HQ. After moving to the United States in 2004, Cohen settled in Jupiter and trained at The Armory alongside Kurt Pellegrino and Eduardo Guedes, earning his black belt on his 29th birthday in December 2012. He later became the head coach at that prestigious academy, a role that drew coverage from Jiu-Jitsu Magazine in 2015.
