## Bio

A Carlson Gracie black belt promoted on November 20, 1994, Marcelo Saporito transitioned from a decorated Tae Kwon Do career—winning consecutive Rio de Janeiro state championships in 1978 and 1979—to Judo under Professor Jomar before finding his home at the Carlson Gracie academy in Copacabana in 1982. He trained exclusively under Carlson Gracie, earning all his belts from the master, and eventually became a full-time assistant coach after impressing Carlson with his instruction. Saporito later took over as head coach, guiding the academy to over 200 trophies across all age groups and producing notable black belts including Daniel Christoph, Luis Sergio de Morais Barros, Patricia Hing, Gustavo Granha, Alan Moraes, Orlando Cunha, Wilham Cavalcante, Wilson Borges, and Fabio Novaes.
