## Bio

A blue-chip prospect out of Manaus who turned down Caio Terra’s first invitation due to visa issues, Mateus Moraes instead developed under Dream Art in São Paulo, earning his brown belt from Isaque Bahiense and taking silver at both the 2023 IBJJF World and Pan Championships as a brown belt. After that Worlds run, Terra renewed his offer, and Moraes finally relocated to CTA headquarters in San Jose, California in March 2024. He won his first IBJJF world title as a brown belt that June, and Terra promoted him to black belt on the spot.
