A product of the Amazonas interior who started capoeira at five and jiu-jitsu soon after, Meyram Maquine was fast-tracked from Manaus to São Paulo on an athletic scholarship with Guigo Jiu-Jitsu under Luiz Guilherme. His blue-to-black trajectory under Guigo and annual fight camps at Team Lloyd Irvin sharpened a dynamic, pressure-oriented game that made him a feared colored belt on the international circuit. Though the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out his final brown belt push in 2020, Guigo promoted him to black belt that June, betting the Amazonian talent’s best years were still ahead.
