## Overview

**Name:** Milton Bastos

**Belt Rank:** Black Belt 3 Stripes

**Date of Birth:** May 19, 1982 (age 44)

## Bio

A former wrestler who traded takedowns for guard passes, Milton Bastos built a reputation as a tough, technical black belt under Ricardo Miller at Paragon before co-founding the Ares JJ association with Samir Chantre, Alan Moraes, and Osvaldo Moizinho. Born in São Paulo’s Bairro da Liberdade in 1982, he started jiu-jitsu at 13 under Marcos Paulo, a Pedro Hemetério lineage man, but spent his late teens deep in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling before returning to BJJ. That stand-up base became his signature, and he made his mark at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships after relocating to the US permanently in 2009.
