## Overview

**Name:** Pedro Sauer

## Bio

A Rickson Gracie black belt awarded in 1985 with Helio Gracie’s direct involvement, Pedro Sauer was among the first wave of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors to transplant to the United States, settling in Utah in late 1990 and pioneering the art across the American Southwest. Originally a stockbroker with a degree in Economics, he trained boxing from age five before Rickson himself brought him to the Gracie academy at fifteen, where rolling with nine-year-old Royler convinced him jiu-jitsu was supreme. In 2005, the ADCC website’s worldwide poll named him “Best of the Best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor.”
