A mainstay of the New School Brotherhood and a key figure in the post-PSLPB exodus alongside Leandro Lo, Rafael Mansur earned his black belt from Pedro Mello in June 2015 after a circuitous path through the academies of Alexandre Reis and Cicero Costha. A Florianópolis native who started at 15, Mansur’s competitive peak came in the late 2010s as a lightweight guard player, notably challenging Diego Bispo in high-profile matches. His career markers include a consistent presence on the IBJJF major circuit, though he never captured an adult black belt world title, remaining a respected training partner and competitor within the Lo-led New School Brotherhood.
