## Overview

**Name:** Richar Nogueira

**Belt Rank:** Black Belt

**Date of Birth:** February 26, 1996 (age 30)

## Bio

Born in São Carlos in 1996, Richar Nogueira began his competitive life as an aggressive central defender in soccer before switching to jiu-jitsu at 13 through a friend. After an early blue belt promotion under Mauro Pacífico left him stranded without a juvenile division, Nogueira joined Atos affiliate Tatinho, who demoted him back to yellow to compete. His rise through the colored belts led to a three-year stint at PSLPB under Cicero Costha, where he shared the Vila Helena house with top grapplers and transitioned from regional standout to internationally recognized competitor. Costha promoted him to black belt on June 3, 2018, two days after Nogueira took silver at the IBJJF World Championship.
