## Overview

**Name:** Rilion Gracie

## Bio

Son of Carlos Gracie and nephew of Helio, Rilion Gracie was raised inside the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu household alongside brothers Rolls and Crolin, who were major technical influences. As a blue belt he committed himself to the guard at a time when it was still considered a defensive position, and he credited his brother Rolls and Mario Tallarico for shaping his offensive bottom game. In the 1980s he coached at Gracie Ipanema and helped establish Gracie Tijuca with Crolin and Carlos Gracie Junior, an academy that later produced multiple world champions. He later moved to Santa Catarina, then to the United States, and was promoted to coral belt in 2015 by Reyson Gracie.
