## Bio

Rodrigo Cabral’s journey through multiple top camps—Gracie Humaitá, Alliance, Checkmat—mirrors the nomadic path of a generation of Brazilian black belts who built careers abroad. Born in Rio in 1981, he started under Fredson Alves, received his purple from Marcos Norat, and his brown from Rocian Gracie before a move to São Paulo put him under Leonardo Vieira. A stint in London led him back to Ricardo Vieira, who awarded Cabral his black belt in 2005 on Leonardo’s endorsement. After coaching at London Fight Factory and training with Alexandre Paiva in Rio, a string of shoulder surgeries slowed his competitive run. He eventually relocated to Austin, Texas, opening his own Fight Factory in the mid-2010s.
