Born September 26, 1981 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Son of Maurício Gomes and Reila Gracie (daughter of Carlos Gracie Sr.). Widely regarded as the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor of all time. 10-time IBJJF World Champion — the most world titles in BJJ history — and 2-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion. Earned his black belt under his father Maurício Gomes. Famous for his dominant mount and cross-collar choke, submitting virtually every opponent he faced in competition. Also competed in MMA with bouts in Strikeforce and ONE Championship. Founded the Roger Gracie Academy in London, which has expanded into an international network of affiliated schools.
