## Overview

**Name:** Stefano Correa

**Belt Rank:** Black Belt

**Date of Birth:** February 25, 1986 (age 40)

## Bio

A late bloomer who hit the ground running, Stefano Correa began jiu-jitsu at age 20 after the death of his father ended a brief, reluctant pursuit of football. Trained under Mauricio Cavaquini, Rafael Pionti, and Alexandre Silveira of the historic São Paulo team Academia Octávio de Almeida (AOA), he turned professional by blue belt at 22 and racked up significant regional titles in the São Paulo area. Awarded his black belt in late 2012 by Octávio Almeira Junior, Correa’s rapid ascent from white to black in under a decade marks him as a standout from the AOA lineage.
