## Overview

**Name:** Tanner Rice

**Date of Birth:** January 02, 1993 (age 33)

## Bio

Son of Rod Rice and a product of the California lineage that runs through John Dill and James Boran, Tanner Rice began training at age six. His blue belt came from his father, but a pivotal year spent living with Carlos Diego Ferreira in Manaus, training at Clube Pina under Master Faustino Neto, shaped his game and earned him his purple belt. After affiliating with Rubens Charles, Rice won a brown belt world title in 2012 and received his black belt from Cobrinha. He debuted at black belt with wins over two well-known competitors at the IBJJF Pro League, later leaving the Alliance team to pursue his own path toward a world title without team-imposed seniority barriers.
