Thamires Aquino moved from capoeira to jiu-jitsu at age 14 after a trial class at her mother’s gym, training first under André “Garapa” Ricardo da Silva before chasing tougher competition through Cia Paulista under Max Trombini and eventually GF Team in Rio de Janeiro, where she earned her black belt on June 6, 2016.
