## Bio

William Abreu’s path to black belt began not on the mats but sleeping outside bus stations during wrestling qualifiers, a hitchhiking teenager taken in by coach Nestor Varona. A 2007 motorcycle accident that fractured his lower back and required abdominal surgery derailed his college wrestling career, but recovery led him to a kids’ wrestling club where a student mentioned sharing a surname with his jiu-jitsu coach. That coach was Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, who invited William to train at Fight Sports after a roll; William became the team’s wrestling instructor and earned all his belts under Cyborg, receiving his black belt in 2014. He later took the head jiu-jitsu coach position at Black House Miami Beach in 2016.
