## Bio

The son of Saulo Ribeiro black belt Herevaldo “Papa-Léguas,” Yan Lucas trained under Pirillo Roriz in Fortaleza and entered the 2015 IBJJF World Championship as an unknown brown belt, winning the featherweight division. He then shocked the American Nationals by taking both his weight and the open class, submitting absolute champion Mahamed Aly in the final. Promoted to black belt by Roriz in February 2016, Lucas remains a standout from Ceará—a region rarely covered by the mainstream—whose explosive guard passing and relentless pressure made his U.S. run a defining marker of his competitive career.
