60 Second Self Defense 02- Technical Stand Up

From Bayshore BJJ

December 30, 2020

The second installment of our new series “60 Second Self Defense Tips.” This series, shot at Bayshore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Hazlet, NJ, is being developed with the aim to provide people with some FREE, easily understood self defense techniques in only (around) a minute!

This video has been produced in partnership with the Tackle Depression Foundation (@tackledpression), and teaches a traditional jiu jitsu (BJJ) mount escape.

At our school we teach this technique in both our kids and adult fundamentals programs, as escaping the Mount position is one of the most important self defense skills that everyone should have!

Enjoy, let us know what you think, and of course, if you have any questions!

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
