Do you feel like you’re not getting better at Jiu-Jitsu? Before assuming you’ve hit a wall, look at how often you’re actually training.

In this video, Professor Matthew Jones explains that someone training once a month shouldn’t expect the same rate of progress as someone consistently training once, twice, or several times each week. If you want to improve faster, consistency matters.

But what if you already train 3–4 times a week and still feel stuck? Look for your “failure point.” Is your guard constantly getting passed? Are you repeatedly caught in the same submission? Identify the pattern, figure out what happens before things go wrong, and work specifically on fixing it.

Getting better at BJJ isn’t just about training harder. Train consistently and make your training purposeful.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
