Closed guard attacks // Setup to sweeps, backtake & armbar

Closed guard attacks // Setup to sweeps, backtake & armbar

From Evolve Movement & Health

April 17, 2021

In this BJJ️🥋 video we take a look at a few attacks from the closed guard.

We will start with a guard pull and then build to a basic setup where we are looking for the classic pendulum sweep. If the sweep is being defended and/or the opponent places his weight beside you, the pendulum sweep might be hard to hit. On the other hand it offers an opportunity to go for a backtake, armbar of different sweep from there.

Don't forget to watch all the other closed guard series were we show you more setups to submissions, sweeps and combinations of both to start sweeping and tapping your opponents. 👊

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments. 🙏

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
