How to escape turtle using the tripod — video 3 in Section 5 (Turtle Position) of the BJJ Fundamentals Course at Nakama BJJ.
When you're in turtle and your opponent is attacking, the tripod escape is your first line of defence. By posting on your hands and feet, you create a strong base that's hard to break down and gives you options to recover guard or stand up.
In this video you'll learn:
- When to use the tripod from turtle position
- Proper tripod positioning — hands and feet
- Recovering guard or standing up from the tripod
- How to prevent your opponent from taking your back
