## Bio

Born in Belo Horizonte in 1983, Rodrigo Freitas started jiu-jitsu in 1997 to channel his hyperactivity after trying karate and judo. He trained his entire career under Aldo Januário (Caveirinha), who awarded him his black belt in 2007 within Gracie Barra. Januário’s recommendation brought Freitas to the US in 2009 to expand GB’s footprint, where he built a reputation as both a competitor and coach before leaving the affiliation in July 2015 to open his own academy.
