## Bio

Rorion Gracie’s firstborn, Ryron Gracie was raised on the mats of the Torrence academy and by age twelve was coaching children while also cleaning blood off the canvas at the first UFC event. He earned his black belt in 2003 from his grandfather Helio Gracie after winning the Gracie International Open, but his competitive record is defined more by controversy than titles—a 90-minute brown-belt win over Crosley Gracie in 2001 and a disputed 2004 Grapplers Quest loss to Marc Laimon, where the Gracie camp’s last-minute rule changes backfired. A non-believer in the sport’s point system, Ryron gravitated toward submission-only events like the Gracie Worlds and Metamoris. Alongside brother Rener, he co-founded Gracie University, an online ranking program that drew sharp criticism from Royce and Rilion Gracie, and became a public face of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu through the YouTube series The Gracie Breakdown.
