Bernardo Faria filmed this in the Las Vegas airport on his way back to Boston, straight after the World Masters and Jiu-Jitsu Con. He had just been on stage there, and the very last question from the audience was what message he would leave for everyone watching. This video is the answer he gave, thought through one more time on the way home.

His answer starts with two things. People and self-improvement. Those are the two things he cares about most in life, and he says jiu-jitsu is the rare thing that gives you both at once. On the people side, he argues the mats give you the most honest community you will ever find, because it is very hard to be a fake person in jiu-jitsu. On the self-improvement side, he walks through what changes once you live the lifestyle. Your health, the food you eat, how you sleep, even your friendships.

Then he gets to the part he actually went there to say. Never quit. If you cannot train every day, train twice a week. If you cannot train twice a week, train once a week. If you cannot train once a week, train once a month. Nothing good happens when you quit, and coming back is almost always harder than staying. He is honest that life gets in the way, that you have a family and kids and a job, and that hard phases are coming. The ask is only to keep some frequency and get through them.
