How to Pass the Koala Guard as They Control Your Leg #JiuJitsu #GuardPassing #friscotx

Getting stuck in Koala Guard? Here’s a simple way to attack the pass when your opponent has control of your leg.

Professor Matthew Jones demonstrates a low-risk Koala Guard pass built around one important detail: your opponent may be controlling your knee, but your foot can still move. Matt uses a bump to create a distraction, steps his foot out, changes levels and dumps his opponent to complete the pass.

It’s a practical example of using movement and misdirection instead of trying to force your trapped knee free.

It's a mess, I know.

My goal is to build the most comprehensive BJJ encyclopedia anywhere — but good, accurate data is genuinely hard to come by. Records, gyms, belts and nationalities are pieced together from public and community sources, so some of it is incomplete, outdated, or flat-out wrong.

That's where you come in. If you spot something off, tell me and I'll fix it — every correction makes this better for everyone. This website wouldn't be possible without the community.
